Emerald Spirit Botanicals has spent the last 18 years breeding cannabis genetics rich in minor cannabinoids such as CBD, THCV, CBDV and CBG. We have been fortunate to gain recognition through our work by breeding the THCV rich Pink Boost Goddess which has now won 2 Emerald Cup 1st place awards, 2 gold medals at the California State Fair and 4 SC Lab Awards (2x Highest THCV Content, 1x Most Unique Cannabinoid Profile and 1x Exotic Terpene Profile). We work from a spiritual scientific breeding approach which in simple terms includes testing the cannabinoid content of all plants we grow, co-creating ceremonies with the land and plants, and sending out prayers of gratitude and healing. We believe that the plants are evolving ahead of us and they produce the food and medicine that allows humans to evolve on the planet.
As we continue our journey breeding with cannabis, we are excited to announce a limited release of Emerald CBG. Emerald CBG is the result of many years of breeding work. It began with a variety we call Equinox CBD that we have been breeding for over 9 years. We noticed that occasionally, this line produced some CBG, so we began to select for the CBG expression and called it Equinox CBG. We then crossed this Equinox CBG to Pink Boost Goddess and selected out a 5:1:1 THC:CBG:THCV variety we call Trilogy. In 2022, we had a happy accident when a female 1:1 THC:CBD Harmony Rose plant put out a few male flowers and shared a small amount of pollen with a neighboring Trilogy plant. We then started and tested roughly 30 seeds from the Trilogy x Harmony Rose cross and found that one of the females contained a CBG dominant ratio with CBC as the secondary cannabinoid. We grew this plant out and it tested at 13.99% CBG, .38% CBC and .22% THC. We call this new cross Emerald CBG.
One plant was grown out in 2024 and we are offering 11 1/4oz jars of flower. All 11 jars will be given away to 11 lucky patients who wish to participate in a small CBG study with us as we explore this new cultivar. Four of these jars will be made available at The Woods dispensary in West Hollywood on 4/20. Folks who purchase a jar of Farm Cut on 4/20 will be entered into a raffle to receive a jar of Emerald CBG. On 4/20, we will launch a 2 week campaign accepting applications on our website from folks who would like to join our CBG research project. Out of the applicants, seven lucky winners will be selected on May 5th to receive a jar of Emerald CBG to use for our study. The study will asses the effects of Emerald CBG on the patients who experience the flower and complete a survey. This will mark the beginning of a new variety of CBG rich cannabis grown and bred by Emerald Spirit Botanicals.
